Packaging Operator

Description:

Labatt Breweries of Canada, a pioneer in Canadian brewing with a history spanning over 175 years, is hiring Casual Packaging Operators at their Halifax brewery. Labatt is renowned nationwide for iconic beer brands such as Budweiser, Bud Light, Michelob Ultra, Corona, Stella Artois, and many others. The Packaging Operator role plays a crucial part in bridging the brewing and shipping processes, contributing directly to Labatt’s productivity and ongoing industry leadership.

The Packaging Operator will work rotating 12-hour shifts covering mornings, afternoons, and midnights. The position requires hands-on operation and monitoring of high-speed packaging equipment, loading machinery with supplies, recording process data, performing quality control checks, and executing cleaning and sanitation tasks.

This physically active role involves manual labor such as prolonged standing, lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing ladders or stairs, and working in enclosed and noisy environments. Safety is paramount; operators must comply with personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements and participate in hearing conservation programs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate and monitor automated high-speed packaging equipment

• Load supplies into machinery accurately and safely

• Record and maintain process data for quality and production tracking

• Conduct quality control checks throughout packaging processes

• Perform industrial cleaning and sanitation of equipment and work areas

• Adhere strictly to safety protocols and wear all required PPE

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Ability to perform physical activities: standing, walking, lifting (up to 50 lbs), pushing, pulling, twisting, bending

• Comfortable working in enclosed, noisy, and potentially slippery environments

• Ability to climb ladders and work at heights

• Experience operating motorized equipment is an asset

• Willingness and ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts (day, afternoon, midnight)
