Operations Supervisor

Description:

GFL Environmental is seeking an Operations Supervisor for our Delta, BC facility. We are looking for someone with experience in gravel pits, quarries, paving/asphalt plants, soil yards, or similar heavy material operations. This role requires someone who understands moving soils, aggregates, and materials with heavy equipment - not warehouse or box-moving operations.

** We are specifically looking for someone who understands production, equipment utilization, and material flow in heavy equipment environments.**

Key Responsibilities
 

• Oversee daily heavy equipment operations (loaders, skid steers, excavators, etc.)
• Maximize equipment utilization and minimize idle time
• Coordinate preventative maintenance with mechanics
• Supervise and train equipment operators
• Monitor yard flow, material movement, and facility throughput
• Identify and resolve production bottlenecks
• Enforce equipment inspections and safety procedures
• Assist with equipment cost tracking and labor hours
   

Requirements
 

• 2–3 years supervisory experience in a production-heavy environment (gravel pit, quarry, asphalt/paving plant, soil yard, waste or recycling operations)
• Strong knowledge of heavy equipment operations and material movement
• Familiar with WorkSafeBC and WHMIS
• Valid driver’s license with clean abstract
• Ability to work flexible shifts
