Alexion Pharmaceuticals, a leader in rare disease biopharma, is seeking a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) – Neurology to support scientific engagement and drive impactful collaborations across Ontario and Western Canada. This field-based role is ideal for a candidate with deep scientific expertise, strong communication skills, and a passion for improving the lives of patients with rare neurological conditions.

As an MSL, you will act as a key scientific liaison between Alexion and external stakeholders, particularly within the domains of Myasthenia Gravis (MG) and Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disorder (NMOSD). You will build relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), facilitate medical education, support clinical research, and translate scientific insights into actionable strategy for the medical affairs team. This role demands both medical acumen and strategic vision to shape the evolving landscape of rare neurological disorders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain scientific collaborations with KOLs and healthcare professionals in neurology and related fields

  • Provide scientific expertise to support the MG and NMOSD portfolios

  • Deliver high-quality, up-to-date medical education to clinicians and stakeholders

  • Identify and support collaborative research opportunities and advisory boards

  • Serve as a peer-to-peer resource to healthcare professionals, fielding scientific inquiries and promoting best practices

  • Attend national and international congresses to gather intelligence and foster strategic relationships

  • Collaborate closely with internal cross-functional teams, including commercial, sales, and marketing

  • Ensure appropriate training and scientific readiness for external speakers

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a Medical Science Liaison or equivalent scientific engagement role

  • Advanced degree (MD, PhD, PharmD) in biological or health sciences required

  • Experience with recently launched biologics or therapies, particularly in rare or ultra-rare disease, is highly preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex data effectively

  • Proven track record in stakeholder relationship development

  • Self-driven, highly organized, and capable of working independently

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Willingness to travel extensively within Ontario and Western Canada; weekend travel may be required

  • Bilingualism in French is considered an asset
