Mechanical Development Team Lead

Description:

Kinova, a leading innovator in robotics and advanced technology, is seeking a Chef d'équipe, mécanique (Mechanical Team Lead) to oversee and guide a mechanical development team in a dynamic and agile engineering environment. This role involves leading technical efforts, ensuring project success, and fostering team autonomy while collaborating closely with the Hardware Development Manager to drive continuous improvement and meet delivery commitments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead mechanical development efforts and act as scrum master within the team.

• Ensure the team meets delivery commitments and project milestones.

• Foster team autonomy, responsibility, and self-organization.

• Contribute to project estimation, planning, and process standardization.

• Implement best practices in mechanical design and development.

• Plan and participate in design, verification, compliance analysis, and engineering reports.

• Maintain strong documentation and configuration management.

• Conduct performance reviews, manage timesheets, vacations, and define team objectives.

• Support onboarding and integration of new team members.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in mechanical development/design.

• Knowledge of DFM & DFT concepts in design.

• Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec.

• Strong leadership, autonomy, decision-making ability, and client-oriented approach.

• Bilingual (French and English).

Assets:

• Experience in project or personnel management.

• Scrum master experience.

• Familiarity with SolidWorks, JIRA, and Confluence.

• Knowledge of quality management principles (ISO 13485) and relevant standards (IEC 60601, IEC 60204, ISO 13849, UL1).
