Description:
The Kativik Regional Government (KRG) is currently seeking a committed and proactive Land Use Planner to join their team in Kuujjuaq, Quebec, on a full-time, permanent basis. This role plays a key part in supporting land development initiatives in the northern territory of Nunavik, focusing on sustainability, community involvement, and regulatory planning for the region’s Northern villages.
As a Land Use Planner, you will work within the Renewable Resources, Environment, Lands and Parks Department, under the direction of the Coordinator – Land Use Planning. Your role will be instrumental in shaping and guiding land use decisions across the vast and culturally rich Arctic region of northern Quebec.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide technical guidance and support to Northern villages regarding land use planning.
Participate in the development, review, and updating of local master plans and related administrative regulations.
Coordinate and facilitate public consultation sessions to ensure community input in planning decisions.
Collaborate on strategies for sustainable development, especially for new expansion areas.
Assist with the preparation and analysis of development permits and municipal authorizations.
Contribute to and manage various projects involving land use and sustainability.
Perform additional tasks as directed by the department supervisor.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, regional planning, or a related field.
Minimum 2 years of relevant professional experience (e.g., drafting regulations, municipal planning, training local officers).
Membership in the Ordre professionnel des Urbanistes du Québec (OPUQ) is an asset.
Experience working in municipal settings or in northern/Indigenous communities is highly desirable.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, ArcGIS, and AutoCAD.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to express technical concepts clearly and listen attentively to stakeholders.
Adaptability and capability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Working knowledge of at least two of the following languages: Inuktitut, French, and English.
Willingness to travel frequently throughout the Nunavik region.

Salary Range: CAD 60,074 to CAD 102,839 annually (CAD 5,006 to CAD 8,569 monthly)
Cost-of-living allowance: Minimum CAD 8,500/year
Food allowance: Minimum CAD 4,217/year
Annual travel allowance: Up to 3 trips
Simplified pension plan: 6% employer contribution, 4% employee
Group insurance coverage
Vacation: 20 days annually
Public holidays: 20 days (including 10 during the holiday season)
