Iredale Architecture is seeking an experienced Intermediate Interior Designer to join our collaborative team in Vancouver. The ideal candidate is a mid-career interior designer with strong technical, coordination, and design development skills, and experience working within a multidisciplinary architectural practice.
We are looking for a highly motivated, competent, and effective Intermediate Interior Designer to support our Education, Cultural, Facilities, and Residential studios. The successful candidate will work independently under the direction and supervision of Principals and Associates and will be responsible for delivering interior design components from concept through construction.
Responsibilities
- Develop interior design concepts and carry projects through schematic design, design development, construction documentation, and contract administration
- Prepare detailed interior design drawings, finish schedules, millwork drawings, and interior specifications in accordance with professional standards of practice
- Coordinate interior design scope with architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and specialty consultants
- Support residential interior design projects, including multi-unit and custom residential work
- Review shop drawings, samples, and submittals related to interior construction and FF&E
- Participate in site reviews and respond to contractor questions related to interior scope
- Assist with client presentations, design studies, and material and finish selections
- Manage multiple tasks, priorities, and deadlines while maintaining design quality and technical accuracy
Qualifications
- 5–8 years of relevant professional experience in interior design with a Canadian interior design or architectural firm
- Degree or diploma in Interior Design from a recognized post-secondary institution
- Registered Interior Designer (RID) or eligibility for registration with IDC, with NCIDQ certification or eligibility considered a strong asset
- Demonstrated experience across a range of project types, including institutional, cultural, educational, commercial, and residential interiors
- Strong understanding of the BC Building Code, accessibility requirements, life safety, and interior construction detailing
- High level of proficiency in Revit for interior design documentation
- Knowledge of sustainable design principles, materials, and finishes
- Familiarity with municipal approval processes and consultant coordination
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively within a team environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
