Intermediate Cad Designer

Description:

• The CAD Designer will be responsible for preparing electronic (CAD) shop drawings for various window and door-building projects from preliminary concepts, sketches, specification sheets, and other data.
• Work closely with the Drafting Manager to select cost-effective materials and construction techniques.
• Creating custom door/window designs from Elevation sketches and incorporating custom door or windows drawings into tool palettes.
• Make basic computations to determine the layout of charts, the strength of materials, and requirements for structural design.
• Prepare RFIs for discrepancies between drawings, design and installation issues or missing details.
• Organize and maintain a design and CAD digital file database for each project.
• Revise shop drawings from GC.
• Prepare as-built shop drawing at end of the project.
• Prepare electronic layouts, charts, detailed scale drawings, and material and equipment requirements from sketches, specifications, and standard layouts provided.
• Revise computer-aided designs and plans to comply with modified specifications made during actual construction.
• Interface with departmental personnel to obtain details of equipment and materials requirements.
• Complete documentation packages and produce drawing sets.
• Attend coordination meeting with the Project Manager if necessary; and
• Other tasks as skill set and time allows.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 3 to 5 years of drafting experience working within the architectural field.
• Experience in building envelopes (windows/doors/railings).
• Curtain wall and/or window wall experience.
• Efficiency in using AUTOCAD and effective working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, email, and Adobe.
• Proven analytical skills and the ability to identify customer needs.
• Able to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Effective communication skills.
• Ability to follow through and complete overlapping projects.
• Excellent organization and ability to multitask in a fast-paced product development environment.
• Detail oriented.
