Description:
Matrec, a division of GFL Environmental Inc., is seeking a full-time Industrial Mechanic to join its team in St-Jean-Sur-Richelieu, Quebec. This is a permanent, on-site position working 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
The chosen candidate will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing fixed equipment, conducting preventative maintenance, and ensuring safe, efficient mechanical operations across all machinery. You will work in a dynamic, high-growth company that specializes in waste collection, recycling, and organic material processing across North America.
The working environment is industrial, dusty, and noisy, with ambient conditions that mirror outdoor temperatures. Therefore, applicants must be comfortable with physical work in such conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
Diagnose mechanical problems in machinery and plan appropriate repair methods
Perform maintenance and preventative service on industrial equipment
Follow best practices to comply with health and safety regulations
Maintain a clean and organized workspace
Provide daily reports on maintenance work, including equipment downtime and estimated repair time
Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisors

Qualifications and Requirements:
DEP (Diploma of Vocational Studies) in Industrial Mechanics
Minimum of 2 years' experience in machinery maintenance and repair
Strong manual dexterity and technical aptitude
Ability to work independently with resourcefulness and safety awareness
Good problem-solving and prioritization skills
