Description:
The Head of Technology Delivery, reporting directly to the CIO, is responsible for overseeing the initiation, planning, and execution of all Business-IT projects and programs. This role demands active involvement to uphold CanDeal delivery standards while focusing on developing high-quality solutions and successful outcomes. Responsibilities include managing the entire process, from requirements gathering and development, to liaising with external vendors or solution providers, and finally to deployment and production support.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Primary contact for Business-IT delivery, with a focus on Markets Technology, Data & Analytics Technology, Solutions Technology and a plan to expand to other key business areas.
- Collaborate closely with the business stakeholders and the technology groups to steer and manage Business-IT projects from inception to delivery.
- Cascade the strategies from the CIO and Business partners’ strategies to develop roadmaps that ensure efficient resource allocation and sufficient necessary skillsets.
- Partner with development heads to deliver solutions, and supporting design, development and implementation.
- Ensure all project delivery processes and support structures are established, potential solution gaps are addressed, and the software development lifecycle is enforced throughout.
- Facilitate synergies and leverages across business-technology domains to align with enterprise architecture shaping, rationalization and consistency over common applications, services and resources.
- Co-manage relationships and with all external vendors during project builds and post-production stages.
- Support the Risk and Compliance department with regulatory activities and inquiries.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in IT-related field is required.
- Minimum fifteen (15) years of related experience, preferably in the financial services industry.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong leadership skills, including the ability to coach, develop and mentor staff.
- A thorough understanding of how to plan, resource, and deliver large-scale financial technology projects, preferably in capital markets domain.
- Ability to grasp the overall 'Big Picture' while also delving into specific project details.
- Proven technology skills and superb analytical skills, with the ability to think “outside the box” to resolve problems.
- Strong understanding and experience in multi-threaded messaging, API, high-throughput, low-latency systems, data analytics and web applications.
- Solid proven development experience in Linux, Java, Spring, Python, C++, SQL, FIX, REST, AWS, and Azure directory services.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively clarify complex technical issues and concepts in a business-friendly manner to various audiences.
- Strong organizational skills, with the abilities to manage multiple deliverables in a time-sensitive environment and adapt to frequently changing priorities.
- Ability to work effectively within a team, as well as independently.
- Must be available for after-hours support, typically through remote access.
