Head Of Investor Relations

Description:

Head of Investor Relations

Engaged by Toronto Recruitment on behalf of a film Financing Movie Studio.

About the Client:

Our client is a dynamic independent film studio dedicated to producing major cinematic blockbuster films featuring A-list actors. Their ambitious slate includes high-profile, big-budget projects across action, franchise, sci-fi, and epic drama genres, backed by world-class talent, visionary directors, and cutting-edge visual effects. Committed to delivering globally successful, audience-driven blockbusters that dominate the box office and captivate millions worldwide, the studio is rapidly expanding its production pipeline and seeking substantial private investment to fuel its growth.

The Role:

This is a part-time position (approximately 20 hours per week, with flexibility around key fundraising periods and events).

Reporting directly to the CEO and senior executive team, the Head of Investor Relations will lead all investor relations and fundraising efforts, focusing on securing equity financing for major blockbuster film projects from high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) and family offices. This is a high-impact, entrepreneurial position where your existing network will be the primary driver of success.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute a targeted fundraising strategy to secure significant equity investments for individual blockbuster film projects and broader studio initiatives.

• Actively leverage your personal “book of business” – including established leads and direct contacts with family offices, HNWIs, and private investors – to generate introductions and close investments.

• Cultivate and maintain long-term investor relationships, delivering transparent updates on project development, financial performance, and return profiles.

• Create high-quality pitch decks, financial models, and investment memorandums tailored to blockbuster film financing structures (e.g., equity participation, recoupment waterfalls, tax incentives).

• Partner closely with production, legal, and finance teams to ensure seamless investor onboarding and compliance.

• Represent the studio at key industry events, film markets (e.g., AFM, Cannes, Berlin), private investor gatherings, film premieres, and related networking opportunities.

• Provide market intelligence and investor feedback to help shape studio strategy.

Qualifications and Requirements

• 5+ years in investor relations, capital raising, private equity, investment banking, or wealth management with a primary focus on HNWIs and family offices.

• Essential: A robust, pre-existing personal network of family offices and high-net-worth individuals capable of making multi-million-dollar investments in entertainment projects. Demonstrated track record of personally raising significant capital required.

• Direct experience in film or entertainment financing is highly desirable; deep knowledge of blockbuster film investment structures, tax incentives, and risk/reward dynamics is a strong advantage.

• Outstanding communication, presentation, and storytelling skills, with the ability to inspire sophisticated investors.

• Strong financial modeling and analytical capabilities.

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or related field; MBA or CFA preferred.

• Entrepreneurial, results-oriented mindset suited to a creative and fast-paced environment.

• Part-time on-site role based in Toronto (core office days required); regular travel expected, including required attendance at film premieres and industry events in Europe and Los Angeles.

Compensation & Incentives

• Attractive base salary (pro-rated for part-time hours) plus substantial commissions directly tied to capital successfully raised.

• Potential for equity participation in select projects.

• Opportunity to work closely with A-list talent on major cinematic blockbusters.
