Description:

The Greater Miramichi Service Commission’s economic development division, Growing Greater Miramichi, is dedicated to building a strong, thriving, and future-ready region by fostering local business growth, attracting investment, and enhancing workforce and community capacity. They are seeking a Growth Officer to play a pivotal role in advancing these objectives and driving measurable regional impact.

In this role, you will report directly to the Director of Regional Economic Development and work closely with communities, entrepreneurs, and partners. You will act as the primary point of contact for businesses seeking advice, guidance, and support, helping them navigate areas such as business planning, marketing strategies, digital transformation, financing options, and other growth-focused services.

Your responsibilities will include coordinating business support programs, workforce development events, and regional workshops, as well as assisting with community-led economic development initiatives. You will manage the region’s job board, strengthen employer engagement, build partnerships, and track regional economic data to inform strategic decision-making. Additionally, you will represent the region at various stakeholder events and collaborate with both provincial and federal partners to promote resources and opportunities.

The ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience in a related field, strong communication and relationship-building skills, and proficiency in digital tools and data collection. Experience working with rural communities, bilingualism in French and English, and a post-secondary degree in business, economics, or planning will be considered valuable assets. This position requires a self-starter mindset, excellent organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and a willingness to travel within the region with occasional evening work.
