Frontend Engineer

The company seeks a Frontend Software Engineer to join its Toronto team to build a world-class engineering organization. This hybrid role involves 3 days per week in the office and focuses on delivering high-performance, accessible, and elegant user interfaces for EvenUp’s AI-powered platform.

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement high-performance, accessible, and elegant user interfaces.

• Collaborate with product, design, and backend teams to deliver new features with high quality.

• Contribute to frontend architecture for maintainability, performance, and scalability.

• Develop and maintain design system components and shared libraries.

• Optimize web applications for speed, accessibility, SEO, and responsiveness.

• Mentor peers and promote best practices in frontend development.

• Lead complex engineering projects from ideation to deployment in a fast-paced startup environment.

Requirements:

• Deep experience with React (or Vue/Svelte), TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3 (Sass/styled-components), and build tools like Vite or Webpack.

• Strong understanding of state management (Redux, Zustand, Jotai) and modern frontend architecture.

• Experience with design systems, component libraries, and UI/UX workflows (Figma).

• Knowledge of web performance, accessibility, and responsive design.

• Experience with frontend testing tools (Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress) and Git.

• Familiarity with frontend deployment strategies and CI/CD pipelines.

• Proven experience delivering user-facing products in high-growth environments.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Bonus Points:

• Experience with AI-driven or data-heavy applications.

• Knowledge of backend integration best practices (GraphQL, REST APIs).

• Familiarity with SSR frameworks (Next.js), server components, or edge rendering.

• Experience with cloud platforms like Vercel, Netlify, or AWS Amplify.
