Finance Manager

Description:

IPEX by Aliaxis, one of North America’s leading providers of advanced plastic piping systems, is seeking a Manager, Financial Accounting to join its North American Accounting Operations team at the corporate headquarters in Montreal, QC. This hybrid role reports directly to the Controller, North American Accounting Operations, and is designed for a results-driven finance leader with strong expertise in IFRS, team management, and process improvement.

The successful candidate will lead a large accounting team, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant financial reporting while driving efficiency across accounting operations. This is a key leadership position within a globally recognized organization that values innovation, precision, and people-first culture.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and develop a team of 15 Financial Accountants, including CPAs, by providing coaching, guidance, and fostering a motivating and collaborative team environment.

• Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities for the North American Group operations, including payroll, accruals, intercompany allocations, R&D accounting, lease accounting under IFRS 16, tax payments, FX revaluation, and bank reconciliations.

• Collaborate with ERP implementation teams to ensure a seamless transition to new systems, minimizing disruption to financial operations.

• Coordinate with shared services teams across accounts payable, receivable, costing, FP&A, tax, treasury, and transfer pricing to maintain accuracy and compliance.

• Support financial reporting and analysis, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.

• Establish and strengthen internal controls and continuously recommend process improvements.

• Manage internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with IFRS and regulatory standards.

• Stay updated on accounting standards, ensuring adherence to IFRS and assisting tax/legal teams with statutory reporting.

• Drive team performance through leadership, accountability, and the promotion of operational excellence.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Education & Certification: CPA designation required.

• Experience: Minimum of 7 years in accounting, including at least 3–5 years in management.

• Strong leadership skills with a proactive and motivational approach.

• In-depth knowledge of IFRS, multi-entity accounting, and multi-currency environments.

• Previous Big 4 audit experience considered a strong asset.

• Experience in manufacturing or global organizations preferred.

• Familiarity with US and Canadian accounting regulations (sales tax, payroll, reporting).

• Proficient in SAP S/4HANA (an asset) and advanced in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

• Adaptable, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-changing environment.

• Bilingual proficiency in English and French is required.
