Field Technician

Description:

Alta Equipment Company, North America’s largest equipment dealer, is seeking a Field Technician / Mechanic for Forklift Equipment to join their Montreal team. This full-time role involves performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing, and repairing forklifts and other material handling equipment for clients. Technicians are provided with the tools, resources, and training needed to succeed.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform preventative maintenance and repair of forklifts and material handling equipment.

• Diagnose and resolve equipment issues efficiently and professionally.

• Deliver exceptional customer service to clients.

• Work independently while managing workload and priorities.

• Complete and submit required documentation accurately.

• Apply Alta Equipment’s guiding principles in daily activities.

• Perform additional tasks as required.

• Maintain consistent and reliable attendance, arriving on time.

Qualifications:

• Fluent in French (written and spoken).

• Minimum 2 years of mechanical repair experience on forklifts, automobiles, diesel engines, agricultural or heavy equipment.

• Prior field experience is highly desirable.

• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.

• Excellent interpersonal skills.

• Possess personal tools.

• Clean driving record and valid driver’s license.

• Intermediate skills in reading, interpreting manuals, and writing routine reports.

Physical / Work Environment Requirements:

• Regularly stand, walk, use hands, reach, speak, and hear; occasionally sit, climb, balance, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

• Lift up to 10 lbs regularly; 11–25 lbs frequently.

• Work near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes, particles, weather extremes, electrical hazards, and vibrations.
