Evening Intervention Worker

Description:

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Evening Intervention Worker will support women and children affected by domestic violence by ensuring a safe, supportive, and empowering environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Welcome and intake of women and children into the shelter.

• Provide support and intervention services including crisis management, phone support, individual meetings, information, referrals, and resources.

• Ensure the safety and security of the shelter (access control, movement, alarm systems, etc.).

• Participate in creating and implementing individualized intervention plans for women and children.

• Conduct one-on-one intervention sessions with residents and those in post-shelter follow-up.

• Document and report relevant information in accordance with internal procedures.

• Develop or adapt intervention tools based on residents’ needs.

• Facilitate daily life in the shelter and encourage a positive, community-based dynamic.

• Accompany women in their personal and legal processes and advocate for their rights.

• Attend and contribute to team meetings.

Desired Profile

• Diploma in social work or related field combined with at least 2 years of relevant experience (or a combination of education and experience deemed relevant).

• Experience in a shelter or community living environment is a strong asset.

• Familiarity with domestic violence issues and feminist intervention approaches.

• Demonstrates initiative, adaptability, crisis management skills, teamwork abilities.

• Discretion, autonomy, honesty, and responsibility are essential qualities.

• Must hold a valid driver’s license.
