Description:
Sun Life is seeking a Disability Case Manager to join their Group Disability team in Vancouver. This role combines clinical insight, analytical decision-making, and human connection to support Canadians in achieving better health and sustainable recovery. The position is ideal for healthcare professionals or business graduates with frontline healthcare experience, empathy, and strategic thinking skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Assess and manage disability claims (short-term, long-term, and salary continuance) ensuring timely and fair resolution.
Lead recovery planning by evaluating medical and non-medical factors, functional capabilities, and return-to-work readiness.
Apply crisis intervention and rehabilitation techniques to support clients during complex health transitions.
Use data and analytics to inform decisions, monitor trends, and improve recovery outcomes.
Build and maintain trust-based relationships with clients, employers, and healthcare providers.
Communicate with clarity and empathy, guiding clients through their absence and return-to-work journey.
Required Strengths and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare, Kinesiology, or Business.
3+ years of professional experience in disability case management.
Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
Emotional intelligence, crisis intervention, and rehabilitation techniques.
Strategic thinking, negotiation, and data analysis.
Resilience and adaptability in fast-paced, emotionally complex situations.
