The Correction Enterprise Supervisor II (CES II) at the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction plays a vital role in managing and overseeing agricultural operations at Enterprise Farm and other state facilities. This position focuses primarily on poultry operations but also supports row crop and vegetable production, ensuring efficient, compliant, and productive farming activities within correctional enterprise operations.

The CES II will assist in managing the day-to-day functions of poultry operations, including pullet rearing, egg production, and equipment maintenance. The role also involves maintaining detailed records of wastewater irrigation, inventory control, and supervising offenders and staff in farming activities. This is a hands-on role requiring close adherence to quality, quantity, safety, and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operational Management: Assist in the management of row crop, vegetable, hay, and poultry operations.

• Training and Supervision: Train offenders and staff on farm practices and equipment usage while maintaining compliance with safety and productivity standards.

• Poultry Management: Oversee the daily poultry operations including raising pullets, maintaining egg production levels, and keeping spray field records of wastewater irrigation.

• Equipment Maintenance: Perform necessary maintenance and repair of all farm machinery and tools associated with poultry and crop operations.

• Compliance: Ensure all activities comply with NCDAC policies, safety procedures, and applicable laws and regulations.

• Quality Control: Monitor crops and livestock for pests and diseases and apply appropriate pest control measures as per approved agricultural standards.

• Licensing and Documentation: Maintain accurate records, licenses, and certifications related to agricultural, pesticide, and wastewater management.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Education: High school diploma or GED required.

• Experience: Minimum 2 years of relevant agricultural or industrial experience (poultry, crop, or vegetable production).

• Knowledge: Strong understanding of poultry management, crop cultivation (corn, soybeans, wheat, vegetables), and pest control techniques.

• Licenses/Certifications:

  • Must hold a valid driver’s license.

  • Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.

  • Must maintain a Class C license, pesticide license, and wastewater license.

  • Must obtain a NC License (Public Operator) in Agricultural Pest/Plant within 6 months of hire.

• Additional Requirements:

  • Must pass psychological, physical, and drug screening tests.

  • Must complete a 6-week Basic Correctional Officer Training (BCOT) program.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen and at least 20 years of age.

Preferred Skills:

• Knowledge of pullet and poultry layer management.

• Ability to scout for pests and diseases in crops and livestock.

• Familiarity with irrigation systems and waste management in agricultural operations.

• Strong attention to detail, safety compliance, and team collaboration.
