Description:

A.P. Moller – Maersk, a world leader in integrated logistics and global shipping solutions, is seeking an experienced Compliance Manager to join its team in Hamilton, Ontario. The role is designed for a dedicated professional passionate about ensuring that all organizational functions adhere to internal policies, legal frameworks, and international regulations.

The Compliance Manager will play a key role in strengthening Maersk’s compliance culture, ensuring risk mitigation across all business areas, and maintaining integrity within operations. This position is critical to protecting the company’s reputation, ensuring ethical conduct, and supporting a culture of transparency and accountability throughout Maersk’s global network.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and implement compliance programs across Maersk’s business functions, ensuring alignment with local and international laws, regulations, and company policies.

  • Conduct compliance risk assessments, internal audits, and inspections to identify potential areas of vulnerability and recommend preventive measures.

  • Develop, implement, and monitor internal controls to mitigate compliance risks and ensure operational efficiency.

  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of regulatory requirements related to trade, shipping, logistics, and corporate governance.

  • Review and update compliance frameworks, policies, and procedures to reflect evolving industry standards and legal obligations.

  • Coordinate and lead compliance training sessions to build awareness and promote ethical practices among employees.

  • Prepare and deliver compliance reports, highlighting findings, trends, and recommendations to senior leadership.

  • Collaborate with various departments—including legal, audit, finance, and operations—to ensure compliance alignment across all organizational levels.

  • Monitor corrective action plans and follow up on audit recommendations to ensure timely resolution.

  • Support investigations into compliance-related incidents, ensuring proper documentation, confidentiality, and remedial action.


Qualifications & Skills:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business Administration, Finance, Risk Management, or a related discipline.

  • Experience: Relevant work experience in compliance management, risk control, or internal audit within a corporate or logistics environment.

  • Strong understanding of compliance frameworks, risk assessment methodologies, and internal control systems.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and apply complex legal and regulatory requirements.

  • Detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence and educate colleagues at all levels.

  • Proficiency in developing compliance documentation, audit reports, and process improvement initiatives.

  • Demonstrated integrity, ethical judgment, and commitment to transparency and accountability.
