Description:
Commercial Manager is responsible for leading and managing the end-to-end commercial functions of the project, ensuring the effective planning, execution, and oversight of commercial strategy, procurement, contracting, inventory management, and contract administration. The role ensures all commercial activities are delivered in a transparent, compliant, and cost-effective manner while supporting the successful delivery of project objectives.
Key functions include:
- Commercial Governance
- Lead the commercial governance framework and continuously improve commercial processes, standards, and controls
- Provide commercial guidance to leadership and project stakeholders on contractual, financial, and commercial matters
- Procurement and Contract Management
- Lead procurement and oversee contract development, administration, and close-out in compliance with organizational standards
- Manage commercial risks, claims, variations, and disputes to support successful project delivery
- Contractor and Supplier Management
- Oversee contractor-led procurement and manage commercial relationships with contractors, consultants, and suppliers to ensure compliance and resolve commercial issues
- Inventory & Materials Management
- Oversee project inventory and warehouse operations, ensuring accurate material tracking and compliance with financial and contractual requirements
- Performance Reporting
- Develop KPIs, monitor commercial performance, and recommend corrective actions where required
Our ideal teammate will have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Commerce, Supply Chain Management, Construction Management, or related discipline
- Seven years of relevant experience in procurement and contract management within large, complex construction or infrastructure projects, including a minimum of three years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of commercial risk, claims management, financial analysis, and reporting
- Proven leadership, negotiation, communication, stakeholder management, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Experience with project management and cost management systems is considered an asset
- Supply Chain certification will be considered as an asset
