Michels Canada, a division of the Michels Family of Companies, is seeking a talented and driven Estimator, Civil Infrastructure to join its growing Preconstruction Team in the Greater Vancouver Area. This is an exciting opportunity for a results-oriented professional to contribute to high-impact civil infrastructure projects, supporting cost estimation, bid preparation, and strategic project planning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze contract documents, drawings, and specifications to determine project requirements and develop accurate cost estimates.

  • Perform quantity take-offs for labor, materials, and equipment.

  • Contribute to the preparation of bids and proposals, including pricing for general and project-specific expenses.

  • Conduct risk analysis and prepare detailed documentation to support estimation and bid accuracy.

  • Develop and maintain critical path schedules and project milestones.

  • Participate in pre-bid meetings and contribute to conceptual discussions on complex projects.

  • Explore value engineering options to improve cost efficiency and constructability.

  • Track and review awarded contracts, monitor competitor activities, and provide insights on market trends.

  • Evaluate labor and equipment rates, costs, and material pricing fluctuations.

  • Collaborate closely with project teams to ensure all estimate details are transferred accurately for project execution.

  • Provide input on procurement strategies and subcontractor engagement.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent trade experience).

  • Minimum 5 years of civil construction estimating and field experience.

  • Proven success in leading bids or pursuits valued between $1 million and $5 million.

  • Strong understanding of bid preparation, trade contractor procurement, and cost analysis.

  • Excellent grasp of contract terms, risk identification, and mitigation strategies.

  • Proficiency in Heavy Bid estimating software and Microsoft Office tools.

  • Strong organizational skills, self-motivation, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with clients, peers, and industry representatives.

  • Prior supervisory experience is an asset.


Compensation & Benefits:

  • Base Salary: $85,000 – $100,000 CAD annually (depending on experience and location).
