Description:
Element Materials Technology is seeking a Chemist II or Chemist III to join their expanding team in Mississauga, ON. This is a full-time, on-site role ideal for an experienced analytical chemist looking to work in a collaborative, fast-paced laboratory environment. Element is a globally recognized leader in testing, inspection, and certification services, committed to making the world safer through rigorous quality assurance.
The Chemist will perform complex chemical analyses on organic and inorganic substances, develop and validate analytical methods, lead investigations, and provide technical mentorship. This role requires a solid understanding of laboratory procedures, technical documentation, and the ability to support cross-functional testing initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Evaluate chemical and physical properties of various substances using advanced analytical methods
Conduct method validation, lead development, and draft associated protocols and reports
Perform root cause investigations for deviations and non-conforming results
Prepare technical reports, contribute to client quotations, and consult on results
Draft or revise SOPs as needed and support regulatory documentation
Mentor and coach junior team members; delegate and oversee technical tasks
Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) in multiple laboratory domains
Maintain communication and collaboration with team members and leadership
Apply chemical expertise to long and complex product testing cycles
Ensure adherence to lab standards and safety protocols
Participate in internal initiatives such as cost control, 5S, and SQDC principles
Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Diploma in Analytical Chemistry, Life Sciences, or related field
Proven knowledge of various reagents, solutions, and analytical techniques
Intermediate math, reading, and writing skills
Strong critical thinking and attention to detail
Excellent time management, planning, and organizational abilities
Effective communicator with strong interpersonal and presentation skills
Ability to handle both routine and complex analytical tasks independently
Familiarity with cost control, lean principles, and lab efficiency metrics
Physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds and navigate elevated lab environments
