Black Development Intern

Description:

SickKids Foundation is proud to offer a 12-month Development Internship opportunity for individuals from the Black community, focused on gaining professional experience and development within the nonprofit and charitable sector. This full-time, temporary role will expose the intern to core functional areas within the foundation including Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI)/People & Culture, Brand Marketing, and Granting & Hospital Relations.

The program is designed to enhance workplace exposure, foster career growth, and build a pipeline of Black professionals in the philanthropic landscape. The intern will engage with internal stakeholders, contribute to projects, and gain insights into the operational and strategic elements of a top-tier charitable organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Participate in fundraising, granting, events, and marketing support functions

• Assist in improving granting processes and restricted fund tools

• Provide administrative and data support across departments

• Collaborate with the EDI and People & Culture team on internal initiatives

• Support third-party and community engagement events

• Proofread materials and contribute to content and outreach

• Perform general administrative and special project duties as required

Qualifications:

• Must self-identify as a member of the Black community

• Completed a college diploma or university degree

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

• Demonstrated professionalism, initiative, and ethical work practices

• Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize under pressure, and meet deadlines

• Detail-oriented with strong time management and organizational abilities

• A collaborative team player with a growth mindset
