Position Title

AVIATION SAFETY SPECIALIST

The Aviation Safety Specialist plays a key role in advancing Ornge’s commitment to safety excellence. In this role, you will develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive aviation safety monitoring tools, programs, and best practices. With a strong focus on data-driven insights, you will support the Aviation Safety department by transforming operational data into meaningful analytics that strengthen our safety culture, enhance risk management, and drive continuous improvement across our aviation operations.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Develops and implements Aviation Safety monitoring practices to strengthen safety programs.
  • Establishes trend monitoring framework for all Aviation Safety data sources.
  • Supports Safety investigations, as well as the Safety Investigators, through trend analysis of safety reporting FDA event rates, CADORS records, and other data points relating to safety.
  • Provides all departments with regular safety data reporting to support and lead informed operational decisions.
  • Prepares and presents Safety data analysis, summaries, and findings to various audiences including management, senior management, and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborates with internal stakeholders to integrate safety related data from all areas of the operation.
  • Leads the Flight Data Analysis (FDA) programs through effective monitoring and oversight in collaboration with the Gatekeepers.
  • Oversees FDA data monitoring, analysis, and reporting in support of the FDA programs.
  • Provides user support for the Q-Pulse program to Aviation staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma or equivalent work experience is required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience working in an aviation operational or regulatory environment is required.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Power BI, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.
  • Experience preparing and presenting data analysis reports is required.
  • An understanding of Safety Management Systems (SMS) principles is required.
  • Experience implementing Safety Management Systems (SMS) and/or Quality Management Systems (QMS) is preferred.
  • Experience with Flight Data Analysis (FDA) platforms is preferred.
  • Pilot, AME, or Engineering experience is preferred.
