Associate Hardware Scientist

 

Description:

SCIEX, a leader in mass spectrometry and capillary electrophoresis technologies, is looking for an Associate Hardware Scientist to join its Software and Applications Research Department. The role involves driving innovation through the testing and development of novel hardware to improve customer workflow performance. Located in Concord, Ontario, this role offers the opportunity to define new methodologies to validate hardware/software, advance scientific technology, and contribute to research projects with an emphasis on timely delivery and risk management.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Enable testing and development of novel hardware to enhance performance for customer workflows.

  • Define and validate methodologies for hardware and software under senior mentorship.

  • Generate novel ideas to advance scientific instrumentation and technology.

  • Identify and implement product improvement opportunities within research scope.

  • Manage research projects with a focus on delivering on time and mitigating risks.


Qualifications:

  • Advanced Science degree (Master’s or Ph.D. preferred) in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or related field.

  • Strong knowledge of instrument control, machine learning, and software development.

  • Publication record in relevant scientific fields.

  • Experience with analytical instrumentation.
