Description:
As an Associate Director in Diagnostic Project Management, you will play a crucial role in driving the success of diagnostic projects across various therapy areas. This position is part of the Diagnostic Project Management group within Precision Medicine, Project, Portfolio & Operations. Your mission will be to ensure the successful delivery of diagnostic projects from development initiation to regulatory approval. You will work closely with cross-functional teams and external partners to align strategies and optimize the delivery of precision medicines. This is a hybrid position that requires 3 days in the office.
Accountabilities
- Manage multiple sophisticated projects to deliver on time, within budget, and with high quality.
- Build and lead all aspects of project plans to track and drive delivery of major breakthroughs.
- Manage project costs aligned with investment decisions and FTE resources aligned with project needs/forecast demand.
- Develop and manage project risk logs, driving mitigating actions with diagnostic project teams.
- Develop progress reports to track delivery to time, cost, and quality.
- Mentor and collaborate with Diagnostic Information Managers to ensure accuracy of project/portfolio information within AZ’s enterprise planning tool (PLANIT).
- Drive process simplification and standardization across Precision Medicine to improve efficiencies and establish best practices.
- Prioritize and oversee Diagnostic Project Team meetings, guaranteeing that detailed actions are noted, distributed, and followed up on until resolved.
- Prioritize and oversee Precision Medicine project review meetings attended by Precision Medicine leaders, diagnostic project team members, and key R&D stakeholders.
- Deputize for the Director, Diagnostic Project Management at the program level as necessary.
Essential Skills/Experience
- BA/BSc in relevant subject (or equivalent experience)
- Significant experience within a scientific project management environment
- Expert understanding of Project Management techniques, tools, and principles
- Strong organization and forward-planning skills, with attention to detail
- Experience of global team-working and effectively presenting with key stakeholders
- A professional, enthusiastic, and proactive approach, with the ability to independently manage a diverse and fast paced workload
- Background working with Microsoft Office/Outlook, project planning tools, and web-based programs
- Prior experience in leading and reporting of project information
Desirable Skills/Experience
- Professional project management qualification (e.g., PMP)
- High-level understanding and curiosity about Precision Medicine
- Experience of using PLANIT to accurately forecast resource and maintain milestones
