Boart Longyear, a world leader in mineral exploration and environmental drilling services, is currently seeking Assistant Foreurs au Diamant de Surface (Surface Diamond Drilling Assistants) to join its Val-d’Or, Quebec operations. As part of Boart Longyear’s drilling team, you will support drilling operations, handle equipment, and contribute to maintaining a safe and productive worksite. Maintain all site tools and equipment to ensure their optimal performance and longevity.
Support drilling operations by handling drill rods and tools, collecting and managing samples, mixing drilling fluids, and performing basic equipment maintenance.
Perform housekeeping tasks, maintain inventories, conduct pre-start checks, and refuel vehicles and drilling machinery.
Work under the supervision of a Driller, Supervisor, or Division Manager, following instructions accurately and efficiently.
Train and mentor new assistant drillers in a safe and professional environment.
Maintain accurate operational records, including daily drilling reports and inventory logs.
Operate auxiliary equipment such as light or heavy vehicles, cranes, forklifts, telehandlers, skidders, and tracked utility vehicles as required.
Uphold a safe and hazard-free working environment by applying effective risk management processes.
Provide first aid if required and follow emergency procedures.
Contribute positively to team cohesion and build effective professional relationships.
Perform other duties as assigned to support field operations.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid First Aid/CPR certification.
Basic literacy and numeracy skills required for operational tasks and reporting.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in drilling or a related field (preferred).
Exposure to various drilling environments and techniques is a strong asset.
Must meet work fitness standards as required by the company’s fitness-to-work program.
Canadian Driller Certification preferred (documentation must be provided).
