Description:

The Accounting Policies Group is responsible for reviewing complex transactions, investments, and other activities to assess technical accounting implications that could impact value. The team also interprets new accounting standards and ensures their implementation in collaboration with internal stakeholders. In addition, the group reviews periodic financial reporting to confirm compliance with IFRS standards.

About Your Role

As an Intern, Accounting Policies you will:
 

  • Support the team in building template checklists to be distributed to stakeholders aiding them in applying PSP’s established accounting policies
  • Support team in streamlining dashboards and other documents produced on a recurring basis
  • On a monthly basis, gather pertinent information on items identified within related reports received from other business units, in an effort to expedite the analysis of exceptional securities
  • Support the team in drafting Financial Statement note disclosures by performing peer benchmarking analyses as well as IFRS-based research
  • Monitor financial reporting standard continuous development, and prepare and present a regular update to the team
  • Assist in review of the Notes to the Financial Statements on a quarterly basis
  • Assist in updating the continuous process of monitoring, organizing, documenting and reviewing new and/or amended IFRS standards
     

What You’ll Need
 

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting or final year of degree with most accounting courses having been completed
  • Technical requirements: Excel and MS Office
  • Ability to navigate a fast-paced environment with a high level of autonomy
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively, cultivating meaningful relationships with colleagues and clients
  • Drive to pursue excellence and challenge the status quo to seek out alternative perspectives in terms of ideas or processes
  • Proficiency in English and French (or willingness to learn) (frequent interactions in English with PSP employees based in our offices in Hong Kong, London and New York, and interactions in French with employees in our local offices in Montreal and Ottawa)
  • Must return to studies after the internship or the internship must be part of your curriculum
  • Candidates must have the right to work in Canada* for the period specified to be considered for this position.  No support to obtain the right to work will be provided.
  • *Options include Canadian citizenship, permanent residency or a valid open work permit.
