Account Executive

 

Description:

MSC Industrial Supply Co. is a leading North American distributor of metalworking and maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) products with over 80 years of experience and a product range exceeding 2 million items. They are hiring an Account Executive to generate sales by nurturing existing customer relationships and prospecting new clients in designated territories.

The role involves:

  • Penetrating accounts at both functional and executive levels to design superior solutions

  • Providing technical and sales expertise across territories

  • Collaborating on cross-selling activities and MSC collaboration projects

  • Acting as a role model demonstrating MSC values and achieving financial targets

  • Working with internal teams to meet customer service expectations

  • Achieving sales plans and account retention targets

  • Identifying and growing opportunities in collaboration with Strategic Accounts and Sales Management

  • Communicating initiatives effectively among multiple customer contacts

  • Maximizing productivity using multiple MSC Solution channels

  • Building world-class customer relationships and delivering sales strategies

  • Creating and delivering face-to-face sales presentations on latest products and services

  • Staying aware of competitive landscape and emerging technologies

  • Developing territory sales strategies including partnerships and local affiliations

  • Actively generating new leads through cold calling, canvassing, referrals, and partnerships

  • Retaining customers by ensuring a superior experience

  • Maintaining accurate sales records and reports

  • Implementing company programs and initiatives successfully

  • Assisting or conducting surveys and new customer setups

  • Securing and submitting customer orders using wireless technology

  • Developing pricing strategies for non-contract customers

  • Fostering MSC culture and participating in special projects

Education & Skills Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; 2-4 year college degree preferred

  • Technical product knowledge preferred (fasteners, chemicals, industrial supplies, manufacturing, etc.)

  • Ability to read and analyze technical materials

  • Excellent verbal, written communication, listening, presentation, and questioning skills

  • Computer literacy in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email, and PC-based order entry systems

  • Basic math skills and good time management

  • Valid driver’s license with ability to drive several hours per day in assigned territory

  • Physical ability to lift up to 60 pounds and perform frequent bending/stretching
