Description:

The Centre communautaire Jeunesse Unie is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Intervenante auprès des filles to serve as a key reference point and mentor for girls attending the center. This vital role involves leading activities specifically designed for adolescent girls, providing a safe and empowering space that addresses both leisure interests and personal development topics, such as self-care, sexuality, bullying, mental health, and culture. Activities are co-created with the participants to promote empowerment and active involvement.

The position requires active informal intervention, participation in team meetings, and support for homework assistance. You will be a trusted presence, guiding and encouraging young girls, while fostering a welcoming and secure environment.

In accordance with Article 20 of the Charte des droits et libertés de la personne, this position is reserved for a woman due to the sensitive and confidential nature of the interventions, and the need for a safe and culturally respectful setting. Many activities are exclusively for girls, and in this multicultural community, numerous families permit their daughters’ participation only under the supervision of a female youth worker.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, structure, and animate engaging and empowering activities for girls.

  • Create an inclusive and warm atmosphere while encouraging participation.

  • Intervene with empathy, authority, and consistency to ensure a safe space.

  • Manage group dynamics effectively, promoting meaningful discussions.

  • Offer informal intervention and emotional support when needed.

  • Assist with homework and provide academic guidance.

  • Collaborate with the team in meetings and program planning.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education:

    • DEC technique in youth intervention or a relevant field (required).

    • BACC universitaire in youth intervention or a related field (preferred).

  • Skills & Competencies:

    • Active listening and compassionate communication.

    • Ability to design, animate, and evaluate activities.

    • Conflict resolution, group management, and positive leadership.

    • Cultural awareness and sensitivity.

  • Personal Qualities:

    • Dynamism, empathy, autonomy, and the ability to establish trust.

Assets (Not Required but Preferred):

  • Experience in community or youth work.

  • Knowledge of intercultural realities.

  • Skills in leading artistic or cultural workshops (e.g., health cooking, slam, rap, theatre).

Working Conditions:

  • 28 to 35 hours per week (mainly 1:00 p.m.–8:30 p.m. and Saturday afternoons).

  • Annual renewable position with a 3-month probation period.

  • Criminal record check required for work with youth.

  • Vacation and leave per labor standards.

  • Additional 2 weeks paid holiday during the festive season.
