Description:

Tourism Saskatchewan is inviting applications for a highly motivated Workforce Development Consultant to join their Saskatoon-based team. This permanent, full-time position plays a vital role in enhancing the tourism sector by leading the planning, coordination, and delivery of workforce training solutions tailored to industry needs. The role requires a strong focus on client engagement, needs assessment, program development, and strategic relationship management with stakeholders across the province.

As a key liaison between the tourism industry and the Workforce Development Department, you’ll work closely with tourism operators, employees, and third-party agencies to design and deliver customized training programs that contribute to business success and employee development. You will also support ongoing program improvement, evaluation, and administration to ensure the highest standards in training and client service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Consult with tourism industry stakeholders to identify and deliver relevant training programs.

  • Develop training proposals and secure funding through third-party agencies or Requests for Proposals.

  • Conduct client-specific needs assessments and develop tailored account plans.

  • Recommend updates or new offerings based on analysis and client feedback.

  • Administer contracts and agreements, manage client reports, and oversee customer relations.

  • Deliver engaging presentations and facilitate sessions on tourism training topics.

  • Identify and pursue new client and market opportunities in tourism and related sectors.

  • Establish and nurture strong, long-term relationships within and beyond the client portfolio.

  • Research and evaluate training impact and return on investment (ROI) in the tourism sector.

  • Recruit, train, support, and supervise training facilitators while ensuring adherence to internal standards.

  • Manage departmental budgets and ensure efficient resource use.

  • Regularly adapt and revise training content to meet evolving client needs.

  • Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness and modify where necessary.

  • Maintain organized records and training material inventories.

  • Contribute to marketing and communication strategies promoting training services.

  • Identify training opportunities in non-traditional or emerging sectors.

  • Support administrative oversight of related projects and coordinate with team members.

  • Represent the Workforce Development Department at tourism-related events, committees, and public functions.


Required Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications:

  • 3–5 years of experience in adult training and education, preferably within the tourism industry.

  • Post-secondary education in tourism, business administration, adult education, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

  • Experience in training program development, evaluation, and facilitation.

  • Proven ability to develop and write training proposals.

  • Experience in managing and mentoring training facilitators.

  • Certification in Adult Education or Tourism Trainer (or willingness to obtain).

  • Strong organizational, planning, and multitasking capabilities.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and within team settings.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

  • Effective presenter with the ability to lead group discussions and training sessions.

  • Motivated, adaptable, client-focused professional with a passion for education.

  • Ability to track project outcomes and report data effectively.

  • Sales or account management experience is an asset.

  • Must hold a valid driver’s license due to required travel.
