Wicketter Operator

 

Description:

TC Transcontinental, a leader in flexible packaging, retail services, and printing in Canada and North America, is seeking a Wicketter Operator for its Whitby, ON location. The Wicketter Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining bag-making machines, ensuring production efficiency, and adhering to quality and safety standards. This role requires attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Follow all company safety policies and PPE requirements according to the Occupational Health and Safety Act and other legislation.

  • Accurately record all production information on Production Time Sheets, including setup, running, maintenance, material usage, and total production.

  • Set up and adjust 4 bag-making machines as required.

  • Check dockets and schedules for production instructions and material requirements; ensure correct bag measurements.

  • Complete Quality Control Check Sheet every half-hour or as required; report out-of-specification bags to Quality or Supervisors.

  • Report any discrepancies with material usage to the Supervisor.

  • Ensure proper packing, labeling, and quantity of bags in boxes.

  • Maintain cleanliness and good housekeeping around machines; perform daily, weekly, and monthly preventive maintenance on wicketters.

  • Perform monthly BOP audits and quarterly hidden hazard inspections.

  • Carry out additional duties assigned by the Supervisor.

Requirements:

  • Manufacturing experience is required.

  • Mechanically inclined with prior experience operating equipment.

  • High energy, positive attitude, self-directed, organized, and able to communicate effectively.

  • Ability to work harmoniously with all employees and form productive team efforts.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects as needed.
