Volunteer Board Members

Description:

Dalhousie Food Cupboard, a community food bank serving Ottawa’s West Centretown area, is seeking Volunteer Board Members to help guide the organization in its mission to alleviate food insecurity. The Board consists of members from diverse backgrounds, representing the not-for-profit, public, and private sectors. Board members serve an initial two-year term and act as ambassadors for the charity while helping to shape its future.

Available Volunteer Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Treasurer

• Oversee the financial health of the organization

• Manage and monitor finances

• Prepare and present financial reports to the Board

• Develop and implement financial policies and procedures

• Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory financial requirements

• Collaborate with staff and Board members on budgeting

2. Donor Relations Manager

• Develop and execute donor engagement strategies

• Identify and cultivate new donors

• Manage relationships with current and potential donors

• Collaborate with staff to create compelling donor materials and reports

3. Volunteer Coordinator

• Lead recruitment, training, and management of volunteers

• Develop and implement volunteer recruitment strategies

• Conduct orientation and training sessions for new volunteers

• Coordinate volunteer schedules and assignments

• Provide ongoing support and recognition to volunteers

• Work with staff to identify volunteer needs and opportunities
