(System Administrator)
- Manage the computer resources of the internal development and support labs.
- Respond to and resolve help desk requests and record details in a ticketing system to track support issues.
- IT Problem Management and third level support to customers.
- Provide support for Infrastructure related emergencies as well as occasional weekend maintenance.
- Monitor the systems daily and respond immediately to security or usability concerns.
- Create and verify backups of data.
- Upgrade systems and processes as required for enhanced functionality and security issue resolution.
- Administer infrastructure, including network components, firewalls, and malware protection software.
- Assist with hardware, firewall, and software vendor evaluation, recommendation and procurement.
- Prepare hardware solutions, including obtaining quotes and pricing out solutions, in support of proposals for new and existing customers.
- Install, configure, and test computer hardware and software for various internal and client environments including Test Environments, Training Environments and Production Environments.
- Administer and support core Microsoft, VMware, and other technologies.
- Define and document system architecture, best practices and support procedures.
- Maintain inventory and asset configuration documentation.
- Mentor / cross train team members on existing and new technologies.
- Pager support. You must be flexible to periodically carry a pager for after-hours support as part of a larger rotating pool of pager resources.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Minimum 7-10 years experience -- hardware/software -- configuration and installation procedures.
- Physical installation of computer hardware (Desktop and Server), rack and non-rack.
- Installation and configuration of computer operating systems (Desktop and Server)
- Installation, configuration, and administration of VMs.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Server 2016/2022 in a VM environment.
- Managing server virtualization technologies like VMWare Server/ESX or Microsoft HyperV/Virtual Server.
- A solid understanding of LAN/WAN networking, firewalls, VPNs, and general communications network expertise.
- Knowledge of system security (e.g. intrusion detection systems).
- Experience in managing data backup and recovery.
- Managing patches in a VM environment and physical PCs. (WSUS)
- Managing deployments/rollouts.
- Group Policy design and configuration.
- Microsoft IIS administration and configuration.
- Active Directory/LDAP user and group administration.
- Knowledge of cloud computing environments.
- Be able to write clear and precise updates to trouble tickets describing how problems are defined and resolved.
- Be able to work under pressure from customers to resolve problems.
- Excellent communications skills in English.
