Manning Equine Veterinary Services, a division of NVA Equine, is a comprehensive multi-service equine clinic located in Orton, Ontario, specializing in equine sports medicine, pre-purchase examinations, reproduction, and dentistry. The facility provides a mix of ambulatory services and in-house hospitalization to deliver high-quality veterinary care.

The Veterinary Externship opportunity is designed for current veterinary students to gain immersive, hands-on experience by working directly with a team of experienced veterinarians and interns. This externship aims to prepare students for clinical practice by exposing them to various equine veterinary disciplines.

Externship Responsibilities and Learning Opportunities:

• Assist in diagnosing and treating lameness and other musculoskeletal conditions.

• Participate in client communications and case management.

• Learn and support reproductive procedures and foal care.

• Gain exposure to equine dentistry and preventive health care protocols.

• Support veterinarians during emergency cases, both in-clinic and in the field.

• Assist with surgical procedures, imaging, and hospitalized case management.

• Participate in ambulatory visits and day-to-day clinic operations.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Open to all current veterinary students, regardless of year.

• Priority may be given to fourth-year (clinical) students.

• Students in the clinical year may be eligible for a travel/living expense stipend.
