Veterinary Assistant

Description:

Your primary responsibility is to assist our veterinary staff with various tasks and treatments. Key responsibilities and attributes are;

• Set up for ultrasound and radiology procedures.

• Set up and assist with endoscopic procedures (GI, nasal, urinary, airway).

• Cleaning and sterilization of equipment

• Manage appointments, obtain histories and update patients' information.

• Accurate and thorough documentation of medical records.

• Patient discharge and client education.

• Create a positive, low-stress atmosphere for our clients and patients

• General housekeeping duties; cleanliness of treatment and common areas

• Willingness to learn more regarding; veterinary services, updated medical office procedures and assisting the Veterinary staff with preparing surgical suites and patient recovery

• Exceptional client service skills

• Compassion and nurturing attitude

• Ability to remain calm in stressful situations

• Experience with restraint of companion animals is an asset

Who is Alta Vista Animal Hospital

Located in Ottawa, ON., Alta Vista Animal Hospital is a growing multidisciplinary hybrid hospital with Referral, Emergency, and General Practice services all under the same roof. Our board-certified specialists provide care in ophthalmology, cardiology, oncology, and Internal Medicine and have access to on-site MRI and CT diagnostics. With a dedicated staff of 160, including 30 veterinarians, we offer excellence in veterinary medicine because we are passionate about what we do!

We are located at 2616 Bank Street, 20 minutes south of the vibrant downtown Ottawa Market and operate out of a 24,500-square-foot facility. We have a large referring veterinarian community of over 300 General practice and Emergency hospitals. A full suite of on-site diagnostic imaging includes a Toshiba Aquilion 64 slice CT, .25T Vet MR MRI, Pulsera Fluoroscopy unit, Philips ultrasound, and echocardiogram, and two Sound digital radiographs suites.
