Description:

Solus Trust Company (STC), an affiliate of Raymond James Ltd. (RJL) — Canada’s leading independent investment dealer — is seeking a Trust Officer to join its growing Trust Services team in Vancouver. STC provides personal estate, trust, and agency services to clients of RJL, correspondent services clients, and referrals from external partners such as Centers of Influence (COIs) and financial institutions.

Reporting to the AVP, Trust Services, the Trust Officer will manage a portfolio of estate and trust accounts while mentoring Trust Administrators and ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality, professional service. The role requires both technical expertise in trust and estate management and strong relationship-building skills with clients, advisors, and COIs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer estate, trust, and power of attorney accounts (fiduciary and agency) with accuracy and professionalism

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, addressing inquiries and resolving concerns efficiently

  • Exercise discretionary authority as outlined in wills, trust agreements, and power of attorney documents

  • Collaborate with Compliance, Operations, Legal, and other departments to resolve administrative, legal, and risk management issues

  • Participate in regulatory audits and internal oversight reviews

  • Contribute to policy and procedure development for trust services

  • Review and provide input on discretionary decisions made on behalf of STC

  • Build and strengthen relationships with COIs (lawyers, accountants, financial advisors) to promote trust services among HNW clients

  • Support strategic business development by enhancing awareness and confidence in STC’s offerings

  • Engage in projects and special assignments as directed by leadership

Qualifications:

  • University degree in a related field

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant industry experience (estate and trust management)

  • Familiarity with laws governing estates, trusts, and powers of attorney

  • Experience working with high-net-worth clients preferred

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with ability to resolve complex issues

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or collaboratively

  • STEP or MTI designation is an asset

  • Ability to travel occasionally within the province
