Transition House Program Supervisor

 

Description:

Sunshine Coast Community Services Society (SCCSS), a long-standing pillar of community care and advocacy since 1974, is seeking a compassionate and experienced Transition House Lead 1 to join their team. This part-time permanent role offers the opportunity to work in a values-driven, trauma-informed environment supporting vulnerable women and children.

As a Transition House Lead 1, you will work on-site at the Yew Transition House and Thyme Second Stage Programs, playing a key leadership role in ensuring safe, supportive, and effective day-to-day operations. You will work closely with the Program Lead 2 and supervise support staff while promoting a culture of trust, empowerment, and healing for residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations and staff scheduling in coordination with the Program Lead 2.

  • Manage 24/7 program delivery and provide on-call support to Yew House staff as scheduled.

  • Supervise, coach, and support team members while ensuring adherence to collective agreements and policies.

  • Ensure safety and security protocols are maintained at all times.

  • Provide direct support to clients and build trust-based relationships.

  • Perform light cleaning, household organization, and basic maintenance tasks.

  • Promote staff wellness through debriefing and support to mitigate trauma impact.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree in counselling or social work (or equivalent experience).

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience, ideally in a unionized, feminist, trauma-informed environment.

  • Knowledge of gender-based violence, family systems, and the intersectionality affecting marginalized groups.

  • Skilled in Microsoft Office and administrative systems.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational abilities.

  • Class 5 Driver’s License required for travel.

  • Criminal Record Check (CRC) clearance required.

  • Current First Aid Level C certification needed.

Assets (Preferred but Not Mandatory):

  • Managerial experience in unionized settings.

  • Facilities management experience.

  • Familiarity with SCCSS programs and the local community.
