Trading Assistant

Beutel, Goodman & Company Ltd. is currently hiring a Trading Assistant to support its Equity Trading team. This role is ideal for individuals who have experience in financial services and are keen to develop further expertise in portfolio management support. The position involves close collaboration with Equity Traders, Portfolio Managers, and various internal and external stakeholders including brokers and custodians.

The Trading Assistant will provide administrative and technical support for daily trading operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in trade execution and reconciliation processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide backup support for the trading desk, including trade processing and answering calls

• Understand and adhere to trade workflows and compliance protocols

• Monitor and manage daily cash flow activities in client portfolios

• Execute trades related to daily cash flows

• Communicate significant account or cash changes to Portfolio Managers

• Input trades for portfolios not aligned with model portfolios

• Maintain and update internal trading models

• Ensure trade transmission accuracy with brokers and custodians

• Assist the Operations team in resolving trade discrepancies

• Maintain proxy voting database and cast votes accordingly

• Track corporate actions and advise Portfolio Managers

• Create ad-hoc reports for marketing, compliance, or consultants

Qualifications:

• Post-secondary education required

• Relevant industry experience, particularly in trade operations or support

• Strong IT and relationship management skills

• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel

• Experience using Bloomberg is required

• Familiarity with Triton trading system and SS&C Pacer/GWP is preferred

• Completion of CSC (Canadian Securities Course) is strongly preferred

• Strong data input accuracy and exceptional attention to detail

• Capable of meeting tight deadlines in a high-pressure environment
