The awarded applicant will be innovative, creative, inclusive, and demonstrate an understanding of the BC Ed Plan and the District and school Inclusion Plan. They will be a person who is continually striving to improve pedagogy in a changing educational environment.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Education (Elementary or Middle) with a middle/ secondary focus

 

Teachers applying for this position must possess the following attributes:

  • Willingness to work closely with parents;
  • Capacity to work collaboratively with colleagues;
  • Excellent classroom management skills;
  • Knowledge of current instructional practices and curriculum, including the SD8 Inclusion Model;
  • Knowledge and active use of Shelley Moore framework;
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills;
  • Recent, demonstrated successful experience in a middle or secondary school setting;
  • Excellent organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to be flexible;
  • Familiarity with social-emotional learning and trauma-informed practices;
  • Be proficient in woodwork and metalwork;
  • Have a vision for creating an inclusive, dynamic, and engaging middle school shop program.
