Technology Tutor

Students for Seniors Inc. is seeking a Technology Tutor to join their dedicated team in the Ottawa-Gatineau region. Since 2014, the company has been providing in-home technology tutoring services to older adults, helping them confidently and safely navigate the digital world. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference by empowering seniors to use technology effectively for communication, entertainment, and everyday tasks.

As a Technology Tutor, you will deliver personalized, one-on-one tutoring sessions in clients’ homes or in other suitable meeting locations. The sessions cover a broad range of consumer technology topics—from basic computer and smartphone usage to more advanced applications such as video chatting, photo editing, and online shopping. Your patience, empathy, and communication skills will be key in helping clients gain confidence and independence in using modern technology.

This is a contract position with flexible scheduling but no guaranteed hours of work. It’s ideal for individuals passionate about teaching, technology, and making a positive social impact.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one technology tutoring sessions to older adults in the Ottawa-Gatineau area.

• Teach clients a wide range of topics including computer basics, internet browsing, video calling, gaming, email use, social media, and online shopping.

• Adapt teaching methods and pace according to each client’s comfort level and learning ability.

• Assist clients in troubleshooting issues and improving their digital confidence.

• Offer personalized guidance on safe internet practices, online privacy, and device security.

• Maintain a professional, respectful, and patient approach during all sessions.

• Coordinate scheduling with clients and ensure punctuality for all tutoring appointments.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Strong ability to communicate and teach technical concepts clearly and effectively.

• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and patient demeanor.

• Proficiency in computer and internet basics across multiple devices (Windows, macOS, iOS, Android).

• Strong organizational and time management skills.

• Previous tutoring or teaching experience is an asset.

• Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset.

• Dependable, adaptable, and enthusiastic about helping seniors learn.

Compensation

• Hourly Pay: $20.00 (not including travel time).

• Flexible scheduling to accommodate tutor and client availability.
