Description:

The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), one of the world’s leading paediatric healthcare centres, is seeking a Registered Neurodiagnostic Technologist to join the Neurophysiology Department on a part-time permanent basis. SickKids is committed to integrating healthcare, research, and education to improve child health while providing a supportive and learning-focused environment.

As a Neurodiagnostic Technologist, you will provide safe, skilled, and compassionate care while performing advanced neurodiagnostic procedures. You will work closely with children and families, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team in a dynamic clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform advanced neurodiagnostic procedures including:

    • Electroencephalography (EEG)

    • Evoked Potentials (EP)

    • Electromyography (EMG)

    • Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS)

  • Additional procedures may include epilepsy monitoring, invasive monitoring, cortical stimulation, functional mapping, and Magnetoencephalography (MEG).

  • Obtain clinical neurological history and educate patients and families about procedures.

  • Prepare patients and conduct procedures using specialized equipment, producing detailed technical reports.

  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot neurodiagnostic machinery.

  • Participate in teaching, training, and educational activities.

  • Work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, or on-call shifts as needed.

Required Strengths and Skills:

  • Registered Technologist (R.E.T.) Certificate from CBRET (proof required).

  • Graduate of a CBRET-approved Electrophysiology program from a recognized college or teaching hospital.

  • Minimum of 3 years clinical neurophysiological experience.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently in fast-paced, high-stress situations.

  • Proficient with computers and able to meet continuing education requirements.

  • Patient and family-care oriented.

  • Commitment to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in the workplace.

Assets:

  • University background in sciences.

  • Membership or willingness to obtain membership with the Canadian Association of Electroneurophysiology Technologists (CAET) within 6 months.

  • Current or willingness to obtain BCLS certification within 6 months.
