Key Responsibilities
- Working as part of the GFL Technical team assists with various duties as assigned.
- Liaise with Sales, customer service and the GFL facilities to manage incoming and outgoing waste streams
- Referencing Safety Data Sheets, Lab analytical or waste description assign corresponding Ontario waste class code and proper TDG (UN number)
- Interpret customer chemical inventory spreadsheets and group compatible waste together to be lab packed either by the client or a GFL technician. Assign appropriate waste class code and TDG
- If so delegated by the client, assist with managing their Resource Productivity and Recovery Authority (RPRA) accounts.
- Ensure the proper UN rated containers are used for all wastes.
- Ensure all bulk wastes, (liquid or solid) are transported in the appropriate truck.
- Direct incoming waste to the appropriate GFL facility for disposal.
- Price all incoming waste streams ensuring GFL profitability margins are satisfied
- When necessary work with external 3rd party disposal services to price waste streams that must go outside of GFL
- Conduct yourself in a professional manner at all times.
- Maintain a clean appearance at all times
- Abide by the rules and requirements while on customer or GFL property.
- Assist with additional tasks that may be assigned by management.
Knowledge, Skills And Key Competencies
- Environmental or Chemical Engineering Technician or Technologist or related Diploma
- Previous lab, sales and industry experience is an asset
- Competent computer skills (Google Drive/Docs, MS Windows and Office)
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Must be motivated, able to multi-task, and work effectively in a team environment
- Must be safety conscious and detail oriented
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to follow procedures and work with minimal supervision
- Knowledge of TDG, Reg. 347 and Ontario Health and Safety Act an asset.
