Technical Sales Representative

 

Description:

Maple Leaf Foods Inc., a global food company with over 100 years of heritage and a vision to become the most sustainable protein company on earth, is seeking a Technical Sales Representative – Poultry to join its team in New Hamburg, ON. This role is critical in managing a defined territory, achieving sales and procurement objectives, and delivering value-added technical services to poultry producers. The position requires a blend of sales acumen, technical poultry knowledge, and customer relationship management skills to ensure both company goals and producer needs are met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively manage a poultry sales territory to meet or exceed annual business objectives.

  • Maintain and grow sales volume of day-old chicks and procurement volumes of live chickens.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for customers, ensuring needs are met while aligning with internal operational capacities.

  • Provide technical on-farm service support to producers, ensuring product quality and compliance with Maple Leaf’s standards, including Raised Without Antibiotics (RWA) and On-Farm Animal Welfare Initiatives.

  • Execute and manage chick ordering processes, ensuring timely and accurate fulfillment.

  • Resolve customer complaints and sales claims in a professional and values-driven manner.

  • Ensure daily execution aligns with regulatory protocols, producer agreements, and company standards.

  • Build strong relationships with Ontario feed mill representatives and other industry stakeholders.

  • Apply a Six Sigma approach to identify and drive continuous improvement opportunities.

  • Demonstrate and embody Maple Leaf’s Leadership Edge Values, including doing what’s right, transparency, accountability, and high performance.

Qualifications & Skills Required:

  • Post-secondary education or degree in Agriculture, Business, Science, or related field (equivalent work experience may be considered).

  • 1–3 years of experience in a sales environment, preferably in agriculture or food production.

  • Proven technical knowledge of poultry production and on-farm practices is a strong asset.

  • Strong sales, negotiation, and relationship management skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

  • Analytical thinker with strong time management, organizational, and multitasking abilities.

  • Self-motivated, independent, and enthusiastic, with a results-oriented mindset.

  • Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Office applications.
