Technical Manager

 

Description:

Bowls Canada Boulingrin (BCB) is seeking a dedicated and highly organized individual to fill the full-time position of Technical Manager. This role involves collaborating with BCB partners to effectively develop, administer, and implement national programs, events, and projects that drive the growth of the sport of bowls in Canada. The anticipated start date for this position is Spring 2025.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Coaching Development:

  • Lead the Coaching Committee and project teams in developing coaching programs.

  • Coordinate with the Coaching Association of Canada (CAC) to administer the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP).

  • Support the development and delivery of coaching education programs.

  • Oversee coach evaluations, online coaching programs, training opportunities, and certification processes.

  • Support High-Performance Coaching Development Programs, including scheduling National High-Performance Coaching Seminars and training initiatives.

Officials Program Development:

  • Lead the Officials Committee in developing and delivering officiating programs.

  • Support officials' training and certification processes.

  • Assist in the selection of officials for national championships.

Athlete Development:

  • Develop and implement a Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) plan in collaboration with provincial organizations.

  • Align club programs with BCB’s Athlete Development Grid and LTAD principles.

  • Promote national competitions and athlete development initiatives.

  • Support sport participation development programs, including application processing and program compliance.

High-Performance Program Coordination:

  • Develop and implement strategies for a national high-performance program.

  • Oversee the administration of Team Canada programs, including selections for international events like the 2025 Atlantic International Challenge and 2026 Commonwealth Games.

  • Coordinate coaching networks and support national team coaches.

  • Implement athlete training programs, risk management strategies, and regulatory compliance.

  • Organize national and international competitions, travel logistics, and athlete performance monitoring.

Collaboration and Administration:

  • Work with medical, nutrition, and strength & conditioning teams to support athletes.

  • Manage the budget, ensuring effective use of training facilities and resources.

  • Ensure compliance with national and international sports regulations.

  • Represent BCB at national and international sports forums.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in project management, sports management, or a related field.

  • 3-5 years of experience in a sports-related administrative role.

  • Experience managing the NCCP and officiating development programs.

  • Knowledge of LTAD and Canadian Sport for Life programs.

  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Experience in volunteer committee management (preferred).

  • Background in bowls (preferred).

  • Bilingualism (preferred).

Additional Requirements:

  • Submission of a Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.

  • Completion of the Canadian Safe Sport Program training.

  • Ability to work occasional weekends.

  • Willingness to travel nationally and internationally for meetings or events.
