Description:
The Region of Peel is seeking four skilled Technical Analysts specializing in Traffic Signals & Streetlighting to join the Public Works – Transportation team. This role is crucial for ensuring optimal traffic signal operations and effective streetlighting services within the region. You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of traffic signal and street lighting projects, including design, review, construction, maintenance, and integration with central traffic control systems.
Key responsibilities include:
Designing and reviewing PHM-125 legal traffic signal drawings and street lighting layouts to meet current photometric standards.
Reviewing and providing feedback on traffic signal and lighting submissions through the Environmental Assessment (EA) process.
Preparing and reviewing tender documentation and drawings for related projects.
Coordinating active transportation traffic signal and street lighting initiatives.
Overseeing the level of service of traffic signal operations and conducting travel time studies to optimize coordination.
Responding to public and Council inquiries regarding traffic signal and lighting concerns.
Researching and recommending new technologies and procedures for traffic signals and lighting improvements.
Preparing technical reports for senior management and Council.
Directing electrical and maintenance contractors in all related works.
Ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with regulations such as HTA and OTM Book 12.
Assisting Project Managers with consultant management for capital projects.
Maintaining updated traffic signal and street lighting designs using MicroStation.
Collaborating with municipalities on transit signal initiatives and maintenance agreements.
Participating in region-wide Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) initiatives.
Post-secondary education in Transportation Civil Engineering Technology or a related field; equivalent education/experience may be considered.
IMSA Traffic Signs Level II and Traffic Signals Level II certifications are assets.
Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, standards, and design principles.
Valid G-class driver’s license with access to a personal vehicle.
Proficiency in MS Office, AGI 32 Street Lighting, Synchro, and MicroStation.
Strong project management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
