Description:
Indie Asylum is a nonprofit located in Montreal’s Mile-End district, fostering a sustainable ecosystem for independent video game studios by supporting their strategic development, visibility, and financing. Indie Asylum seeks to hire a Tax Credit Specialist to assist multiple member studios in planning, producing, and managing tax credit applications related to video game production.
The successful candidate will work closely with management teams and financial officers of member studios, preparing provincial and federal tax credit applications such as the Multimedia Production Tax Credit and SR&ED. Responsibilities include assembling supporting documentation for tax authorities (Revenu Québec, Canada Revenue Agency), managing deadlines, ensuring compliance with program criteria, participating in audits as required, and sharing best practices and training teams on public funding basics.
Collaborate closely with management and financial leads of member studios
Prepare provincial and federal tax credit applications (e.g., Multimedia Production Tax Credit, SR&ED)
Compile supporting documents for tax authorities (Revenu Québec, CRA)
Manage deadlines and ensure timely submissions
Participate in audits and verifications when necessary
Ensure activities comply with eligibility criteria of funding programs
Communicate best practices and train teams on public funding foundations
University degree in accounting, taxation, finance, administration, or related field
At least 3 years’ experience managing SR&ED-related tax credits in Quebec and Canada
Proficient with Excel, Google Sheets, and QuickBooks
Strong knowledge of provincial and federal funding programs (SR&ED, multimedia production credit)
Ability to build strong application files and simplify technical information
Team-oriented with good communication skills in French (verbal and written)
Motivated, curious, and passionate about supporting creative industries
Experience in the video game or digital industry
Knowledge of English
Ability to navigate a multi-studio environment with diverse stakeholders
Entrepreneurial or intrapreneurial mindset encouraged
Must be based in Montreal and able to work full-time from Indie Asylum’s Mile-End studios
