Systems Developer

onsemi, a global leader in intelligent power and sensing technologies, is seeking an experienced Systems Developer to join its innovative team in Waterloo, Ontario. The successful candidate will design and develop advanced hardware and software solutions to support system validation of ultra-low power analog, DSP, and wireless communication integrated circuits (ICs). This position requires creativity, strong technical skills, and the ability to collaborate in a fast-paced and innovative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Contribute to hardware and software development for system validation of IC and SiP (Systems-in-Package) products.

• Participate in component selection, PCB schematic design, and layout processes, including signal integrity and RF simulations.

• Develop and optimize data acquisition systems to evaluate system-level performance.

• Support development and testing of production boards, ensuring quality and reliability.

• Prepare technical documentation and reports for validation systems.

• Provide engineering support for customer-related technical issues.

• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to enhance product quality and performance.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Experience: Minimum of 8 years of experience in hardware and software development for electronic systems.

• Technical Skills:

  • PCB design and electrical simulation tools proficiency.

  • Experience with automated data acquisition systems using Python or similar scripting languages.

  • Strong understanding of analog circuit design, microprocessor architecture, memory systems, and communication interfaces (UART, I2C, SPI, etc.).

  • Familiarity with FPGA development, firmware programming, and C/C++.

  • Hands-on debugging and soldering experience for board bring-up.

  • Knowledge of RF simulation tools such as ADS and HFSS is an asset.

• Excellent problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Demonstrated ability to work independently and in team environments.
