System Administrator

Description:

Raymond James Ltd., a leading financial services firm, is seeking a System Administrator to join its Technology Division in Burnaby, BC. The role is essential in ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of IT infrastructure that supports financial advisors and their clients across the organization. Reporting to the Manager of Digital Workplace and Platform Services, the System Administrator will play a key role in maintaining business continuity, deploying new solutions, and supporting technology projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Administer and maintain IT infrastructure to ensure efficiency, security, and minimal downtime.

• Manage the remote monitoring and management system: update scripts, monitor dashboards, and provide reporting.

• Deploy and configure new virtual servers and infrastructure solutions as per business needs.

• Configure and manage IIS web servers, application pools, SSL certificates, and virtual directories.

• Install, configure, and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers and related services.

• Configure, monitor, and support key services such as Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, SMB, and DFSR.

• Collaborate with security teams to remediate vulnerabilities and manage identity access.

• Perform upgrades, patches, and updates across physical and virtual infrastructure.

• Manage VMware ESXi hosts, vCenter, and troubleshoot Active Directory and Azure EntraID.

• Create and maintain automation scripts (PowerShell, Batch) for improved system efficiency.

• Document installation, configuration, and troubleshooting processes for IT auditing and operational continuity.

• Provide after-hours support as part of the on-call rotation.

• Support disaster recovery efforts and ensure minimal business impact during disruptions.

Requirements & Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent IT work experience.

• 2+ years experience with Microsoft Active Directory, AD Sites, FSMO Roles, Replication, ADFS.

• 2+ years managing DNS servers, zones, and records.

• 2+ years experience deploying and maintaining Windows Server and Client OS.

• Hands-on experience with enterprise IT infrastructure management.

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a focus on system reliability and security.

• Excellent communication skills for collaboration with peers, management, and vendors.

• Experience with Commvault or enterprise backup solutions.

• Experience with Zerto or SRM for disaster recovery is an asset.

• Knowledge of enterprise hardware such as HPE Proliant, Synergy, Nimble, MSA, and Alletra is an advantage.
