Suicide Bereavement Facilitator

 

Description:

Norfolk and Waveney Mind is seeking compassionate and dedicated individuals for its Suicide Bereavement Service as Suicide Bereavement Facilitators. This role supports individuals bereaved by suicide, providing immediate emotional and practical support within 2 working days of a referral. The service supports anyone affected by a suicide loss within 3 months of bereavement or prior to the inquest.

The facilitator will also lead suicide bereavement groups using an established framework, helping individuals share experiences, find solidarity, and begin their healing journey. The role is hybrid, with remote work from home and community visits. A driver’s license and access to a vehicle are essential, with mileage reimbursed at 45p per mile.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one emotional and practical support to individuals bereaved by suicide.

  • Facilitate suicide bereavement support groups.

  • Respond proactively and empathetically to referrals within 2 working days.

  • Use the service’s framework to support group cohesion and healing.

  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to client support.

Requirements:

  • Compassionate and empathetic approach to supporting individuals.

  • Experience facilitating group support or therapeutic sessions (desirable).

  • Strong communication skills and ability to build trust quickly.

  • Knowledge of grief, bereavement, and suicide-related trauma (desirable).

  • Proactive and solution-focused in service delivery.
