Description:
Student Engagement, Events & Leadership:
- Responsible for building relationships, advising, and providing students support with:
- involvement and engagement
- strengths discovery and professional accountability and conduct
- fostering academic excellence and leadership inside and outside of the classroom
- handling non-routine issues (both personal and professional)
- Identify opportunities of leadership and personal growth for students as well as directing students to campus services when required
- Mentor, coach, and assist individual and groups of students in their overall personal and professional growth.
- Assist with disseminating information to students through D2L, Hello Haskayne, email, etc.
- Providing leadership and support in the following areas:
Student Club Direction:
- Approve/Deny student club events based upon faculty priorities and processes, student preparedness and resources available
- Collect and advise student clubs in the preparation of their annual reports, financial statements, grant applications; organization and filing of such documents and preparation of documents to summarize student engagement activities annually.
- Manage the student club event database; coordinate the event approval process that involves events, alumni, career and marketing, risk management and student's union
- Train student club executives on fundraising, sponsorship, CPPs and invoicing
- Annual clubs transitioning meetings,
- Chair the Student Club events working group consisting of various Haskayne stakeholders
Student-Led Initiatives Support:
- Advise/mentor students with the organization of student-led initiatives to enhance the undergraduate student experience (Events, Communications, Leadership, Governance)
- Advise/communicate possible funding opportunities for student engagement activities and assist with student enquiries regarding such
- Room and table bookings for student organizations
- Facilitate any surveys/online elections/awards selection as required with student leaders (such as Faculty/Staff Awards)
- Ensure student representation on faculty committees requiring/requesting such
- liaise with external stakeholders to help facilitate Faculty, Staff and Student communications, including external award nomination and selection
Undergraduate Events Lead:
- Directs, coordinates, and leads the Haskayne student engagement events that are funded by the undergraduate area from admission through to graduation, including but not limited to:
- Orientation(s)
- Dean's List Reception
- BGS Ceremony
- Concentration Fair/Enhance your Degree
- This is It
- Haskayne Graduation Celebration
Student Engagement Program Delivery, Management and Support:
- Under strategic vision and guidance of the Associate Dean, Undergraduate Programs, assist in all aspects of the development, implementation, and delivery of student engagement activities designed to enhance the Haskayne School of Business undergraduate student experience, such as:
- Coordinate and implement existing large-scale student engagement programs (such as the BOLD Program, Student Volunteer Program, the House System, and First Year Orientation) and services designed to bridge students curricular and co-curricular experiences
- Coordinate all aspects of the BOLD Program such as; advertising and marketing programs, recruiting, hiring, and training student leaders, identifying system requirements and managing logistical planning, developing action plans to achieve program targets and outcomes, tracking and evaluating program success, and assessing student leader learning.
- Coordinate, plan, facilitate, and evaluate first-year orientations and transition programming.
- Attendance at recruitment activities as appropriate
- Assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating leadership training for student leaders focusing on encouraging students to develop leadership goals and skills
- Supporting current and emerging student leaders, identifying and removing obstacles to student engagement, and supporting student leaders in developing sustainable student engagement programs
- Serving as students first point of contact for any student engagement programming
Supervision of Co-op Student, Operations (when position is filled):
- Train, mentor and lead student staff in the coordination and delivery of programs
- Support and guide learning objectives, ensuring the department's vision is fulfilled
- Assign projects and provide relevant feedback
- Provide performance evaluation feedback and attend mid-term review
